Make a key

    Make a key

On API keys, press New key. A test key (nv_test_…) answers every request for free with tones in place of a voice, which is ideal for wiring things up. A live key (nv_live_…) speaks with the real voices and spends credits. The key is shown once: copy it somewhere safe.

    Pick a voice

On Voices, play the samples and copy the ID of the voice you like. Every voice reads both English and Kiswahili.

    Send the text

Post the text to /v1/text-to-speech/<voice id> with your key in the xi-api-key header. The answer is the audio, as MP3 unless you ask for another format.

The request

With curl, replacing the key and the voice ID with your own (the dashboard's home page shows this filled in for you):

curl -X POST "https://navoras.com/v1/text-to-speech/VOICE_ID" -H "xi-api-key: YOUR_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"text": "Karibu! Your order of KES 1,200 is on its way."}' --output hello.mp3

Open hello.mp3 and you'll hear "one thousand two hundred shillings", not letters and digits.
